The Latin motto of the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad is "Lux et Libertas", which means "Light and Freedom". "Light" refers to the Enlightenment, and "Freedom" is meant as a refence to classical liberalism. For years now, NRC Handesblad does not follow this motto. There are some exceptions — like the columns of the freethinker Afshin Ellian — but most writings which appear in NRC Handelsblad would better fit in religious and socialist papers. NRC Handelsblad definitely does not deserve the motto Lux et Libertas right now.

In contrast to NRC Handelsblad, this website — which isn't called Lux et Libertas by accident — does promote free thinking and classical liberalism. With this website, I'm peacefully fighting (with words) against religious and political collectivism. Collectivism postulates that the individual is subordinate to the collective. Examples of collectivism are Islamism, national-socialism and socialism (including the so-called 'communism'). This website mainly focuses on the dangers of radical Islam, because that political-religious ideology at this time is the greatest threat to liberal democracies.
